Why Can’t I Play THE SIMS 3!?
I just bought some new RAM for my computer and thought everything was ok. The Sims 3 needs:
FOR WINDOWS XP
* 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1 GB RAM
* 128 MB graphics card with support for Pixel Shade 2.0
* The latest version of DirectX 9.0c
* Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
* At least 6.1 GB of free hard disk space, and at least 1 GB
free space to special content and saved games
I have (under dxdiag):
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.73GHz
Memory: 1272MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Card name: Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset
DAC type: Internal
Device Key: EnumPCIVEN_8086&DEV_2592&SUBSYS_099C103C&REV_03
Display Memory: 128.0 MB
Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
So do I need to get a new processor or a new video card? Help!
your processor should be at least 1.8Ghz and that Intel 915 chipset isn’t designed for playing games.the game will lag/freeze or crash when played with this kind of onboard chipset.another bad news,you said it’s Mobile Intel(R) 915GM,meaning your computer is laptop right? well you cannot upgrade/change onboard chipset to real graphics card in laptop.this is possible with certain expensive gaming laptops like Asus but yours is not for gaming.i’m sorry there’s nothing you can do now.if you want to play Sims 3 properly you do need to buy new computer.
