Software Developement?
What are the thing that i need to consider to be able to know if i can a develope a program with a client-server setup using a PC as a server and using the PDA’s wi-fi capability(as a client) to be specific the XdaIIi/Atom running on windows mobile 2003/Microsoft Windows Mobile 5\.0?Or to make it easier is it possible? If there is a way, what would that be?:). To give you a background we are in a garment business and i wish to develope a program for us, this is our current operation(Receptionist for ordering then it will be passed to the prdn mnger, then will request for the materials in the stock room then to the cutter who will set the pattern then to the sewer then to the Quality control). So i was thingking maybe one of them can use a PDA say the Stockman he/she can just enter or update the in/out of material/s using a PDA instead of a PC since it has only a minimun encoding.
Very much possible if you know how to develop network applications, be it over internet or intranet. Microsoft .Net 2005 provides a very neat ide to develop applications for handheld devices with all sort of emulators to test your application while in development phase. It actually provides you with the exact interface of the system where you can use the operating system of the palm pc and do other stuff like playing games as well
… so back to the point, it is possible, depends how much you know about programming, get it outsourced if you can afford it.
