one of my friends that has an iphone said you can have an iphone w/o the data plan if AT&T doesnt know that you have the phone… is this true? i REALLY want to get the iphone but can not afford the data plan….is their any way i can do this? and also, i currently have the HTC Pure (Model Number:HTC-ST6345) (Windows Mobile Version 6.5), is there any way that i could download the Iphone theme onto my current phone? im NOT just talking about the background picture… im talking about the same app view and buttons slide and everything! (i am willing to pay a bit of money!)

It is possible, but probably will not work for longer than a month. The reason why is because your iPhone’s IMEI number would be attached to ANYTHING that you do! That means every time you send a text, make a call, anything like that, your IMEI number on the iPhone will show up as the phone you are using.

So, if ATT thought you had, say, a Samsung Solstice, because that was the phone you bought from them when you upgrade/got service, and you bought the iphone from ebay, the IMEI from the iphone would still show up, even though your records show you owning a solstice.
